Domaine Pierre Damoy
Domaine Pierre Damoy is one of the treasures of Burgundy. It is the largest owner of two iconic grands crus: Chambertin Clos-de-Bèze and Chapelle Chambertin. Damoy also owns one full hectare of Chambertin Grand Cru and a monopoly in the heart of Gevrey-Chambertin called "Clos Tamisot"!
The other major asset of the estate is the exceptional heritage of old vines; from 60 to 100 years of age, mainly of "Pinot Fin", a Pinot Noir of high quality which produces low yields, hence a lot of depth and concentration in the textures.
Over the last few years, Pierre Damoy has decided to also focus more on his vinification and his elevage by hiring a new oenologist and changing his barrel maker. The results of these changes and improvements have been very clear since his wines now excel and raise them to the level of the greatest!
2017 vintage was a turning point as the wines took another dimension!
To do this, the estate relies above all on enormous work in agronomics, soil and subsoils, tending the vines, applying a very low yield policy plus severe sorting while harvesting.
Today Pierre Damoy's wines have a rare concentration but moreover a natural concentration, which is not the result of forced extractions and abusive elevage. If the wines are broad and powerful, it is due to the essence of their terroir, the essence of Gevrey-Chambertin. Within a few years of cellaring, they develop full, juicy textures, with a tasty grain. The aroma is complex, floral and spicy. Pierre Damoy's wines are lords of the table and wines with an immense future!
