Domaine La Truffière
"Robert Comte created La Truffière in the early 1990’s with his mentor Bernard Clerc as he owns a house overlooking the Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru “La Truffière” plot. They both decided that it should be a nice name for a foundation of a new estate as well as the land being next to Domaine Henri Clerc, the labels also carry prestigious 1er Crus plots names; Pucelles, Folatières, Combettes... and Grands Crus; Chevalier, Bâtard, Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet. When Bernard Clerc decided to retire and hand over to Vincent Girardin, Robert Comte extended its partnership with the latter.
In parallel, the Truffière developed in Côte de Nuits with support from Hervé Roumier and produced Chambolle-Musigny, Bonnes-Mares and Clos de Vougeot.
La Truffière is recognized today for its unique style, swipe and elegance, thanks to the combination between its extraordinary wine plots and the unique past of Robert Comte, full of strong human and artistic experiences that create a subtle balance between tradition and modernity.
Robert Comte’s production combines a domain and a micro-negoce: what he owns in Puligny-Montrachet, Meursault and Chambolle-Musigny plus the vineyards he farms (farming contracts) and the grapes he buys during harvest.
Robert brought some new facilities, equipment as well as a new vision of red and white styles; more on the purity and minerality for white wines and less extraction and wood for more silkiness and elegance for the red wines.
