Domaine Michel Gay
Domaine Michel Gay is based in Chorey-Lès-Beaune. The family owns several vineyards in this Appellation as well as the surrounding ones such as: Aloxe-Corton, Beaune and Savigny-Les-Beaune.
Michel Gay and his sons; Laurent and Sebastien produce a nice range of appellations, from Village appellations such as Chorey-Les-Beaune, though Premiers Crus and up to Grand Cru located on the hill of Corton with a small parcel of Corton-Renardes (whose vines were planted in 1945).
Beginning with the 2000 harvest, the fifth generation winemakers, Sébastien and his brother Laurent Gay - sons of Michel - returned to the family domaine after studying agronomics, viticulture and oenology in Beaune. They immediately set up new quality criteria and improved the viticulture and vinification.
Both brothers; Sebastien and Laurent Gay combine an ideal of what Burgundy can be: keeping the good old traditions of being involved their vineyards; tending the vines, being on their tractors with no usage of herbicides and applying low yields as well as making the best usage of the modern world: oenological follow-up, latest technologies and facilities in their winery to produce a pure, silky, elegant and fruity Pinot Noir and yet keeping the density and the profoundness of their wines. A real "tour de force" here!
