Eric Morgat Estate
‘A Chenin conservatory, combining visionary audacity with loyalty to the terroir.’
Born into a wine-growing family from Anjou, formerly owners of Château de Breuil, Éric Morgat decided in 1995 to forge his own path. Far from the compromises of the past, he devoted himself to creating an estate entirely designed around the uniqueness of Savennières and its emblematic grape variety, Chenin Blanc. His project is intended to be a veritable conservatory of Chenin, asserting a strong identity and a desire for differentiation.

Morgat selected plots of land that had been abandoned, located on complex schist and slate soils, which he patiently restored. The vineyard, covering approximately 6 hectares, is managed with extreme care: deliberately low yields and careful, environmentally friendly viticulture. The agronomic choices, dictated by the quest for purity and balance, allow the grapes to reach optimal maturity, without compromising on quality.
In the cellar, the winemaking process reflects the same rigour: long fermentations and subtle ageing, often in barrels, aimed at preserving the truest expression of the terroir. The style of the wines, focused on minerality and density, combines aromatic intensity, vibrant freshness and remarkable ageing potential. Iconic cuvées such as Fidès and Litusbear witness to this ambition, rivalling some of Burgundy’s greatest whites in terms of complexity.
